Do your kids get the point of  how to solve analogies, but still have trouble solving analogies themselves, especially on a consistent basis?  Analogies can be tricky, and as kids practice to improve their proficiency with solving them correctly, a visual cue can be a great tool.

Here’s a little poster that can help.  Post it on your classroom wall or give the kids individual copies for their notebooks to refer to as needed.  You can download the PDF for free here:  Solving Analogies Poster.

The  poster addresses two of the difficulties that kids often encounter when trying to solve an analogy – remembering to balance the two sides, and determining the type of analogy.  This second one – making use of analogy types – is one that is sometimes overlooked, but it can make a big difference.  When kids figure out the analogy type first, they are well on their way to making the correct choice to solve the whole puzzle.
