In thinking ahead to the coming school year, I decided to make my July Pinterest picks a round-up of icebreaker activities. Most teachers, I suppose, use one or a few of these to get the ball rolling at the beginning of the school, so here is a selection that I’ve saved on Pinterest. This beach ball game, from 4 the Love of Teaching looks like a fun get-to-know-you activity for the first days of school (or, with different questions, a fun game for the end of the year). All you need is a beach ball from the dollar store or left over from the beach!
These back-to-school article, from Teach Hub, includes icebreakers for grades K – 5, 6 – 8, and high school.
“Icebreakers that Rock,” from Cult of Pedagogy, offers ideas for students who are just too cool for silly or too-elementary icebreaker activities.
Hopefully, among all of those choices, you’ll find something worth trying out with you own, unique classroom for the 2016-2017 school year!
